The Gunpowder Plot

Feature length immersive theatrical experience of Guy Fawkes’ Gunpowder Plot - featuring physical sets and live performance, combined with VR, projection mapping, ambisonics and multi-sensory SFX.

Developed by Layered Reality and co-produced with Historic Royal Palaces at the Tower of London.

Directed by Hannah Price (Kings Head Theatre, Theatre Uncut) written by Danny Robbins (2:22 A Ghost Story, Battersea Poltergeist) and stars Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) as Guy Fawkes. VR and video content by Figment Productions, set design by Tim McQuillan-Wright, lighting by Robbie Butler, sound design by Adrienne Quartly, Assistant Director Rosie Jones.

Leading a three year programme to develop connections with and share inspiration from the creative industries.

Recruiting and mentoring a cohort of academic entrepreneurs and developing pilot projects with external partners to showcase research. Curating a programme of events to share inspirational projects and emerging trends. 2021 - 2024

Our Wilder Family

UK’s longest drone show, highlighting the beauty of nature around us - for Coventry City of Culture 2021

Performed to a physical audience of over 27,000 in War Memorial Park, Coventry - and live streamed to a virtual audience of over 16,500 (and an additional 5,000 on-demand later). Allowed audiences to ‘direct’ their own show by choosing between multiple camera angles, using 5G broadcast innovation.

Created by the UK’s leading drone art company Celestial. Featuring a new musical score by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award winning composers Dan Jones and Guy Hughes - featuring the voices of children from Templars Primary School in Tile Hill, and environmentalists from Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. Narration from Coventry 2 Tone legend Pauline Black (The Selecter), reading new poetry from Bohdan Piasecki - based on the words of four Coventry City Voices poets Kim Hackleman, Navkiran Maan, Diana Roor and Paul Tafaro.

GALWAD

Large-scale transmedia storytelling project across TV, radio, online, app, installation and multi-site live performances - with content inspired by a worldbuilding exercise with communities across Wales. Produced by Collective Cymru for National Theatre Wales - commissioned by Creative Wales as part of ‘UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK’.

Working with live, digital, comms and writing teams to develop transmedia understanding and capacity.

Impossible Encounters

An immersive ride-on experience concept developed for Coventry UK City of Culture 2021.

A multisensory, futuristic funfair ride summoning a phantasmagoria from Coventry’s past, present and future. Offers participants extraordinary encounters with historical Coventry characters on a voyage beneath the city, along the underground river Sherbourne, through a vortex of time and space.

Experiential ‘resurrection’ of Whitehall Palace - combining immersive audio theatre, interactive technology, live performance and architectural installations.

Developed by Historic Royal Palaces in collaboration with Chomko and Rosier, Uninvited Guests (with Lewis Gibson) and Calvium. Winner of the Museums + Heritage Awards innovation prize, the EU Heritage in Motion Award, and the Best in Heritage IMAGINES Project of Influence.

Long Live Queen James!

A Jacobean drag show in Polari, telling the tales of James I’s relationship with his male favourites. Co-devised by artist and activist Scottee and playright Mark Ravenhill - and featuring leading queer cabaret and live art performers. Shown twice at Banqueting House and toured to Latitude Festival.

Dance, music and spoken word performance - giving voice, body and movement to a rare set of photographs of Black Britons from the Victorian era. Led by artist and choreographer Jeanefer Jean-Charles. Performed at Kensington Palace and Greenwich Docklands International Festival.

Rubens super-zoom

Bespoke on-site tablet app using gigapixel super-zoom technology to allow an ‘artist’s eye view’ of Ruben’s painted ceiling at Banqueting House - at a brush stroke level of detail. Collaboration with MadPixel using their Second Canvas platform.

Tudor kitchens touch tables

Series of touch-triggered interactive installations combining projection mapping, positional audio and haptics to animate the evocative Tudor kitchens at Hampton Court Palace. Developed in collaboration with designers Chomko & Rosier following R&D Studio residency.

Including putting Henry VIII on Twitter, capturing an 18th century feral child on CCTV, creating the world’s oldest Facebook timeline, giving love-life advice as Charles II’s “Pimp Master General”, 3D printing Henry VIII’s crown jewels - and webcasting one of the Tower of London’s ancient ceremonies.
